as MikeV says, there is no best Smile [:)]

i use tamiya masking tape, remember to trim about a mm off each side because of dust, for other try parafilm M, or glue + water+ dishwashing detergent (White glue) in ratio of about 10:2:1 or something, try it.

Have you ever tried using Parafilm? Have you even heard of it before? It is one of the best masking material I have ever used. It stick but is not sticky so it doesn't leave a residue. It is very thin and you can see what you are masking under the film. You can even mask over Metalizer paints and not pull the paint up.

You cut a piece off the roll and stretch it to about 4 times its original size and just start masking. Masking curves are no problem because of its thin properties. You can roll up the mask with your finger. If you need to push the mask edges around just get a toothpick (or I like to use a wet toothpick) and push the Parafilm into place.

Its original use was to cover medical containers but it has found an equal use in modeling. I believe the 'sticky' in Parafilm is simple wax.

Since I started using Parafilm I ACTUALLY LIKE masking! Shock [:O]

Here is a great web site that describes very well how to use Parafilm in modeling:

Roosterfish,

I too have never tried it but it sure sounds like great stuff.
Thanks for the advice.
I may order some from Micro-Mark one of these days.

I've tried 3M Magic tape.... also ok to use.... since it's semi-transparent, you can easily see any paint wicking under it!!!

Thanks for the tips on my masking dilemma. Parafilm-M sounds to be the best way go. I have used it before for fuselage and wing masking and was pleased with the results. I will try all your suggestions. Again thanks gentleman for the tips. Wink [;)]

I forgot to mention that the Parafilm last virtually forever. I've been using my original roll for over 2 years now and I've still got about 90% of the roll left to use.
