Acrylic Cleaner?

I already posted about the date of thia thread but my post was removed. Dont know why and really dont care.

What is it with folks answering 13 year old threads as of late? Don't they look at the dates of the posts before answering? LOL!

Why does this happen? I guess they dont look at the date?

Acrylics have a resin's that gell up with water. I use alcohol 1\3 mixed 3/4 winded but I only use it on model master paint and I use there thinners for mixing.

I think I heard lacquer thinner works on tamyia. Haven't tryd it though.

For cleaning acrylics, I use Windex also. Works very well!

I use Windex to clean. It's cheap and it woks well!

For cleaner, I buy my Testors Acryl cleaner directly from Testors -- thru their Web Site. Look under Airbrush Accesories to find 32oz of Concentrated cleaner for $10 (plus about $4-5 shipping). I mix it with 2 parts water to make 3 quarts! That's far better than the $5 for 4oz hobby stores charge!

This is WAY better than just water... and I think a bit better than Isopropanol... if only for the smell.

Isolropanol works well too... but I tend to like using what's made for it. Water will "work"... but just in a pinch. I avoid it!!!!!

As too thinners... the alcohol works, but again... I stick with the manufacturers stuff when I can.

To get better results, without having to purchase the expensive brand thinners, use isopropyl alcohol, not water, to thin your acrylics.
