Panel Line Wash Colors
Posted by MusicCity on Saturday, June 19, 2004 8:49 AM
I'm washing the panel lines on my F-105, and need an opinion on colors.

The plane is four colors. The top is brown, medium green, and dark green. The bottom is gray and blends into the top colors. For the top I used some sepia color, and that looks pretty good. It's maybe a little dark for the brown and a little light for the greens, but all in all looks OK.

I think it would be a bit stark for the gray on the bottom, but since the gray feathers into the top colors would it be better to keep using the sepia or switch to a dark gray? I think the dark gray would look better on the bottom, but in the areas where the colors are changing would it look strange to have the wash color changing?

Here's a pic:

Not the greatest picture, and it was taken before I started washing the panel lines, but you can see that the brown and green merge into the gray and those are the areas I'm concerned about.

scott, she's looking sweet my friend. take a look at this photo, i used dark umber which i think would look good for the top, and maybe a dark grey for the underside. but, you know how that goes, your eye and taste is gonna be different from mine. here goes.

and, the dark umber may look ok for the underside, but i would probably stick with a dark grey. later.

I looked at my paint again, and it is dark umber and not sepia. I think you're right Chris, I think I'm going to try dark gray on the bottom and see how it looks. It's acrylic, after all, and if I don't like it I can get it off. I just think the dark brown will be too stark on that light gray.

Thanks for the help!
