HELP!!!
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, June 20, 2004 4:31 PM
I just got a Badger 200 and it came with the spray can propellant (i know they are virtually worthless) and my parents got me a huge air compressor for my birthday (its a Husky brand from Home Depot). the problem is the large air hose attachment doesn't even come close to fitting on the airbrush. it is a 200 max psi compressor, which is good for stuff arounbd the house, and he says that his friend uses it for his airbrush because you can adjust it to lower psi's but we can't get in touch with him. what can i do to make these two work? are there parts sold that convert the small air brush screw in to a largere hose screw in? i checked the badger site and there was no mention of any adapter's that would suit this. please help as i am antsy to start my airbrushing adventure.

Take the two hoses you want to connect to Home Depot or some other home store and get someone there to give you the right adapters. Actually my other suggestion is to return the giant compressor and get something more suited. You can go to any of a number of web sites to fine one. BearAir.com is just one. I think that if you do a reasonable amount of air brushing the noise of a big compressor might drive you crazy. Also make sure you have a moisture trap between the compressor and airbrush.

You need an adapter that Badger makes. It is on this page:
http://www.badgerairbrush.com/access2.htm
and is part no. 50-023. It adapts the 1/8" threads on your airbrush hose to standard 1/4 NPT threads that will fit your compressor. Alternatively you can get an air hose that has 1/8" threads on one end and 1/4" NPT threads on the other. Badger makes them to.

The compressor you have will work fine. It is basically what I use as well. If it becomes to onoisy, just let the tank fill and turn the motor off. You can paint from the air in the tank until it get low. I can go about 30 - 45 minutes with mine.

I have an Azteck AC200 compressor, it has the standard threads on the end of it like all compressors. Like the others said, you just need the right adapter & badger makes them. Here's a link to where I bought mine from last year. I don't think that you need the one with the bleed because you're compressor has a tank. LHS don't always carry this part, so you might have to send away for it like I did. I feel you pain in having the airbrush & compressor & not being able to use them :( The tank compressor will serve you better cause it will shut down (and shut up) instead of running & making lots of noise all the time like the tankless compressors. Sure you could buy a hobby compressor with a tank, but you won't be able to use it for other around the house/garage type stuff & it will cost alot more.

Brian is exactly right, I forgot about the bleed option. Since your compressor has a regualtor you do not need the one with the bleed hole in it. All that would do is let the air in your tank escape.

I did get mine at a LHS many years ago. Some may have them, most probably don't. It would be worth checking around because the shipping is probably going to cost as much or more than the adapter. If I remember right I paid less than $5 for mine.
