What I meant to say is that the brakes **CAN** be used for steering. On most aircraft the rudder pedals pivot fore and aft for braking, and can be used together or independantly. Very handy when parking an aircraft since you stand on one side, give it some power, and the bird will pivot around the wheel.

sorry scott, shows how much i know about the braking on a 105!! Dunce [D)]

jeff, happy anniversary man!!! have fun on your trip friend. later.

Happy Anniversary Jeff. Be sure to check out the Aquariums @ Cabrillo Beach right next to the Queen Mary & the Aquarium of the Pacific across the Harbor in Long Beach. Both are really nice. And there's also an old Russian Submarine next to the Queen Mary, but I think that's a seperate admission from the ship.

Fear not Woodbeck, I'm doing no AM parts on my plane. Just when did we say we were going to start this? I've been away for a week, but feels like a month.

I caught it on sale at Squadron back in April. I had been wanting that one for a few months, but not for the $125 most places were asking. Squadron ran it on special for $69 so I grabbed it up.

The decals are done except for those Censored [censored] missiles. You can't really see it in the pictures, but the AGM-78 Standards have colored bands around them going between the fins and other bands over the fins. Each of those bands is 4 decals, and some are so close together that I can't do any more until the previous ones are dry. I've been working on them for 2 weeks, about 30 minutes at a time, and it seems like I'm never going to get them done. The Shrikes have some little decals that are so tiny I can't even read them at 1/32 scale. Even using a MicroBrush they are hard to deal with. They have truly been a chore.

scott, like mike says friend, that is one sweet build you have going there bubba!!! an awesome display of patience and dexterity. those brake lines on the nose gear look excellent. i'm gonna get around to a thunderchief oneday, and when i do, i'll be giving you an email or 2. thanks for the pics. later.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the comments. It's been a lot of fun, but a lot of work.

Actually those aren't brake lines on the nose gear. Aircraft don't have brakes on the nose gear because the brakes are used for steering, and are only on the main gear. Those are just great big wires going to the two landing lights on the nose gear because I didn't have anything smaller.

Updated pix of my marathon project (250+ hours so far and still a good bit to do) are on my web site. It's looking pretty good, but it has been a job and a half. I've enjoyed every minute of it though.
