Anthem 155
Posted by kirk4010 on Monday, July 5, 2004 4:21 PM
I have a brand new Athem 155 out of the Box that will nor spray paint. I am running it off a Silentaire Scorp 1 and have the regulator set at 30 as per the Badger Instruction guide. I have detached the hose at the brush and feel air coming out the hose and if I put my thumb on the hose I can make my regulator gauge go up and down. So my guess is the problem is with the brush, it would appear when I press down on the trigger and pull back its not letting the air flow thru ( I do see the needle move ). Any ideas gents ?

If you have air but no paint, make sure the vent hole in the top of the cap that the bottle screws into isn't plugged or covered.

If everything is hooked up except for paint, hose, pressure, etc. and you press the trigger down and back do you feel air coming out of the tip? If you aren't sure stick the tip in a glass of water and see if it will blow bubbles when you press the trigger. 30 psi is a lot of pressure for a model so you should certainly be able to feel it if there is air coming through.

If there is no air, make sure the chuck that holds the needle is tightened. If it slips the needle won't pull back out of the nozzle.

If there is still no air at all you probably have a bad or clogged air valve or the trigger is not seated properly on top of the air valve. I don't have an Anthem so I can't tell you how to disassemble it, but remove the trigger and make sure it is seated on top of the stem that comes out of the air valve (you'll see what I mean when you get the trigger out).

If that doesn't help, see this post:

I posted it this morning after taking an air valve apart and cleaning it.

If those don't work, call Badger in the morning. They have great customer service and will take care of it for you. Or let us know and we'll see if we can think of something else. MikeV probably has some ideas I forgot.

I have an Anthem 155 and have had no problems. They are fairly easy to disassemble. The instruction book shows a brush in an exploded view. As Scott says check to see if you have air and the vent holes are clear. If no air I suggest you remove the needle which will allow you to remove the trigger. The trigger sits on a needle valve directly below it. If you look in the assembly you should see a small pointed needle on which the trigger should sit. By pressing down on the trigger you are pressing on this needle valve. Make sure this moves and that the trigger is sitting on top of this valve.

This may sound dumb but do you have the protector cover removed from the tip?
If so then try what the others have said.

I switched out the hose that comes with the Scorp 1 and replaced it with the Braided hose that comes with the Badger 155 and all is fine. Thanks all that responded. Cool [8D]

Well, that's not one of the things I'd have thought about trying, but who can argue with success Smile [:)] Glad you got it working.
