I bought a box of 1000 "craft sticks" (meaning popsicle stcks) for $2 a few weeks back and used one of these to stir it up...but I will do so for a bit longer to see if we can get it to work...thanks guys!

Try stirring the Hellblau (and any brand new bottle of paint) with something that has a little paddle on it. I use clear plastic greeting card holders (they look like forks and are available at florist shops). Look carefully; these card holders have a little heart about halfway down from the "tines" of the fork.To make paint stirrers, cut off the "tines," then cut the card holder to about two to three inch lengths in such a way that some of the paint stirrers have a little paddle on them formed by the heart. Use the non-paddled stirrers for stirring paint that gets used frequently and use the paddled ones for anything that requires extra stirring such as a new bottle of paint or anything that's been sitting around for a long time. Better than a toothpick! As you stir, twirl the paddle between your fingers from time to time.

stir it Jeeves, with a toothpick, sounds like its been sitting for a long time. Put your favorite toons on grab a small toothpick and stir away. It will reconstitute itself but takes a while.

Needless to say... I checked to make sure my daughter Abigail wasn't around and swore up a storm. I am at a loss... thank God I am done with the Hellblau for now...

Picked up another jar of Hellblau last weekend at a model shop far far away while on a trip... my bad luck continues-- I opened it up and there doesn't seem to be any pigment at all in it...just runny white. Do I contact MM about this or just deal with it?

sounds just like some of my modelling debacles Jeeves!!! that is funny but not funny if you know what i mean. in one day, i knocked over my bottle of micro sol, micro set a few minutes later, a whole bottle of thin CA glue, which nearly caught the trash can on fire when i threw the paper towel i wiped it up with. i throw it in the waste basket, i'm sitting there modelling away with my tongue stuck out the side of my mouth, and notice smoke rising from the trash can!!! reach over and grab some stuff to take it out and nearly burn my hand severely. the CA glue was trying to spontaneously combust i guess!! oh well, live and learn i guess. later.

Update...

Sprayed one side of the Fw-190 with the Hellblau and then went to work on the Tempest...came back to find that I had somehow knocked over the open jar of Hellblau....

Did I mention it was the last jar in the store....

I am putting the 190 away for a couple days before I smash it into eensy teensy pieces....

That is what I have done all along. I never trust the order of the paints with the kind of people that work at places like my local Hobbytown USA.

once i bought a small tamiya tin, the bottom was green (xf5) and the cap said its green, so when i get home, it's pink!

Been there, done that. Waaaay too many times to count. Finally got in the habit of looking at the label on the bottle and not on the stupid rack! I think people around here get a kick out of doing that just so people will get home with the wrong paint.

Been there dont that, brought a smile to my face. God thing my awesome lhs is only 10 minutes away.

tweety, it happened to me as well this weekend friend!!! i went to pick up some Engine Gray, ofcourse i was 5 hours from home, get home and dig it out of the bag and some graphite color is in there instead of engine gray!!! i live 80 miles from the "LHS"!!!

i can't help you with the Hellblau as i have plenty of that, but no engine grey for the interior of a Bf109!! oh well, murphy loves to play tricks like that!! later.

From what I've managed to find out, it was more of a cross between flat and satin finish.

Not to sure as to how accurate the colour match was, but I do recall reading somewhere that a hint of blue was also part of the overall black scheme.

Like I said, not 100% on this, but it kinda makes sense, seeing as night time isn't truely 'black' anyways.
Would also make the scale effect a little more realistic than outright black.
