                        I'm still confused how you guys/gals paint WW2 propeller. Do you paint the black color first or the yellow color on the propeller tips? Also, do you airbrush the yellow on the tip or paintbrush it? Thanks for any input.

                        Yellow is a horrible color to paint because it won't cover anything. The best way I've found to paint prop tips is to paint the yellow first and then mask it to paint the black. If the plastic is the least bit dark (i.e. anything other than white) I usually prime it with white first.

                        wow, i've never thought of painting the yellow first!!!Dunce [D)] i always mask the black and paint the yellow over black. i've found that tamiya's lemon yellow cover fairly well even thinned at 50/50, plus, you can overcoat it after about 15 min. of drying time. but i would go with scots suggestion as this is what i will most likely start doing. later.

                        I've had good luck painting the black first (airbrush so it's not too thick) and then mask and airbrush MM Insignia Yellow. Seems to work well...just did it for the tips of the vertical stabilizers on my F-14A Tomcat, too (over black...perfect coverage).

                        I like the idea of priming with white first, or doing the yellow first, so I might try that myself next time.

                        Honestly, I very rarely prime...if anything, I'll only prime a seam I've been working on to see how it'll look. I usually just airbrush straight onto the bare plastic, and haven't had any problems so far.

                        I paint the tips first, then the blades then mask it all off and paint the hub. I never thought of doing it any other way.

                        You guys go about it the hard way.
                        I paint the props black, mask it off and dip the tips in yellow paint.

                        I have always painted the tips last also.
