Hi cbreeze, thank you for this recommending this spray booth, because i was also in the market for one. I also hunted around the internet ,and word of mouth for a nice good size booth. I also took the plunge and ordered one. This booth seems to fit the ticket for a quality spray booth. Can't wait to receive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I'm new in here and not very skilled in this modelling business but I hope to improve :).

I've built my own spraybooth from a industrial filter box that was discarded at work. The dimensions are 37 cm wide, 34 cm high and 50 cm deep in thin plate steel. As evacuation i used 40mm plastic plumbing that runs at the bottom sides in the box and with 40 6mm holes drilled into each pipe. In the back I connect my vacuumcleaner and this works ok since i use Tamiya acrylics diluted with isopropanol.

The benefit in finding this discarded box was that i didn't have to build the box itself.

I also built my own compressor which seems ok for now :) and use a Aztek 470 pistol. I find it very hard tho to get back into modelling, havn't done any since I was a kid (36 now) and thats a long time ago.

Oh and by the way is there a way to post pictures here? In that case I can show what it looks like.

Hey JD and Murrey,both of those ideas sound really interesting... I have an alternate desk I can use (versus having to use the work bench) But I need to have access to the archives... due to the fact that I feel like I am posting a question that could be redundant. I want to save my postings for NEW info if at all possible.Any idea on how long the archives are going to be down? I think this is a question we would (especially the "newbies") like to know the answer too.Any how.. my plans were to build a box 22" T X 2' W X 20" D w/ an exhaust fan at the back of the box,pulling fumes through a typical furnace filter. The fumes would then pass through a dryer vent hose connected to a piece of plywood that is cut the same dimensions of an open window,so that there is minimal loss of heat/AC.I would also have a typical double 110V outlet on the side of the box to power AB compressor and a small heat lamp. the top of the box would have a rectangle cut out of it to let light pass through,hinged Plexiglass doors on front that swing left/right.That way if I am shooting a gloss job I can kinda bake the paint a little to aid drying time. Anybody have other ideas or constructive criticisizm? Big Smile [:D]

I'm half-pregnant re: a spray booth. I've aquired some materials to build a paint/drying booth combination as detailed in an older thread by me several months ago (too bad the friggin' search feature doesn't work... Angry [:(!]

). Basically, I bought a microwave cart and I intended to use the top portion as the spray booth, and the drawer as a drying booth (with some fans and heat source....)Then, I saw a post where ausf showed how he built a fan right into the surface of his bench (again, a search feature would be handy here...) Basically a cut-out in the surface with a fan underneith, exhausting air through a duct going to the back of the desk. There was a screen of some sort over the fan. The bonus of this was that it worked to clear CA fumes and other toxic stuff in addition to paint fumes....

Now, I don't know what to do. I REALLY like ausf's idea, but I still want some sort of drying booth too... I'm leaning towards building a fan in the bench-top, mainly because my subjects are usually smaller (ie. cars and 1/72 planes). However, I do have a couple of larger 1/48 planes that may be a bit too big for this setup. I may just have to build both setups..... Big Smile [:D]

My budget hasn't allowed me to purchase a spray booth as yet . Instead I bought a 200mm ceiling exhaust fan from K-Mart for $18 , fitted it into a piece of ply-board , cut the same size as side window of my workshop . Hinged the board to the architrave . The fan came with a lead and plug fitted, so it's just a matter of opening the window , swinging the board around and turning on the fan and it sucks the paint fumes away . Airbrushing with acrylics there doesn't appear to be that much overspray anyway .

Since we are dicussing paint booths...... has anyone built there own and would like to share ideas? I would like to build my own so that I can save a few$$$ and have a set-up just the way I want it. Would like to hear from you folks especially if you can send pics.I am in the so called "blueprinting" stage on my booth.I can still change things if I need too,but I do know I want mine big enough to turn a 1/32 F-14 around and upside down in without having to take it out.Replies to this would be greatly appreciated!!! Greetings,

I have been wanting to buy a paint booth and was pretty much settled on the Artograph until i read about the booths made by Pace Industries. Checked out the web site and placed a call and decided to take the plunge. Just got it yesterday and I am impressed. It was a little pricey but I think worth every penny. I got the Pacemaker which is the largest one they make. It measures 34" X 20" X 20" with a 10" table extension you can mount to the front. It has a 265 CFM shaded pole motor with two built in lights. The motor switch is of the variable speed type. Best of all, it uses standard furnace filters.

Considering the research I did, this one is the largest table top model out there and uses low cost filters. It also had the lights installed with bulbs. I was ready to spend approx $360.00 for the Artograph from Dixie. this one was just a little more but is bigger and then there is the filter factor. The filters for the Dixie are expensive. Also, the service from paintboothbob was great. He answered all my questions and shipped it out right away. I got it in two days.

I know many of you out there have built your own but for me, I simply don't have the time. Fortunately I had enough money in my slush flund to cover the purchase. Anyone who doesn't want to build their own should definitely check out this line before deciding on a final purchase. Pace also makes one or two smaller sizes.
