i'm with mike on this one benedict!! i had one that loved to run hot after about 30 minutes of airbrushing. it took it forever to recover, it was quite annoying as far as the sound, and she'd quit until she cooled down under a certain temp, then quit again even quicker once i started airbrushing again. i could here mine running from the other end of the house, also, i couldn't hear the telephone ring if it were in the same room with me while the compressor was running. after a few times running hot, i donated mine to the local waste management engineers. i did salvage the tank, pressure switch, and various other parts incase i ever decide to build a silent compressor again. later.

Argh, the cheapest I can find the Sprint Jet for is $150. Any cheaper options? Is it really worth it?

Do not buy this unless you like to replace them frequently. They wear out quickly -- I know, I have had three until I finally got smart and bought an Iwata Sprint Jet which I really like. Big Smile [:D]

As for the quietness of it. I have done many a 2-4am paint sessions with it and have yet to wake the house up or any complaints that when it kicks on that the noise is too much.

Yes it is in the house too not in the garage or in a room that has a door that shuts.

Hope this helps

Excellent! That's just what I want to hear, since I'm quite the night-owl painter. :)

Campbell Hausfeld Quiet Air 2gal?

Well, I posted a thread a little while ago about compressor recommendations and the only thing I can draw from it is that the CH Quiet Air compressor might be a good bet. It has a 2 gallon storage tank, a maximum PSI of 100, is only $90 (I wish I knew where to buy it though), and supposedly it's quiet. However, I have no idea how "quiet" it may be. Can someone who owns this compressor tell me how loud it is while the compressor is running? I'm seriously thinking of buying this, so if there's anything better out there, let me know.
