Just an update, I purchased a bottle of Badger Needle Juice off eBay and received it today. Is it supposed to be less viscus like oil or more watery? I just want to make sure my seller didn't rip me off and fill it with cooking oil or something.

Thanks,

Ryan

Ryan,

You could always ask you LHS to order in some Badger Needle Juice or Medea Super Lube for you.

The worst they could do is say no.

Ryan,

What part of the country are you in? Maybe we can find somewhere that has it in your area?

Your best bet is an art supply store. I've never even seen it in any of the hobby shops around here.

Ok, thanks for the advice guys.

Where I live there is only a general hobby store (nothing fancy) and I don't think they carry any of the lubricant. Is there anywhere I can get the ones listed above besides online? I have no credit cards.

Hiya Ryan,

I actually asked that same question a couple of weeks ago in this forum. I ended up picking up some Medea Super Lube from Great Models for a couple of bucks. It's a Teflon based product that won't react with your paint.

Please just don't anybody suggest olive oil as a lube for an ab Big Smile [:D]

Cheers

Ryan,

Putting lube on the needle smooths the action of the airbrush as well as helps to prevent paint from drying to the needle causing problems.
I highly recommend it.
I have used both Badger Needle Juice as well as Medea Super Lube and they both work very well. A bottle will literally last you for years as you only put it on the front-half of the needle.

After carefully reading through the "ABC's of Airbrushing" on how to properly clean your airbrush, I came across the last step, that it, oiling the needle. I am curious as to why this needs to be done? Does the solvent/cleaner damage the needle in some way?

Its a good thing I received that article because I would not know half the things that would need to be done each session.

Also, what oil does everyone here use for their airbrush needles?
