Idea for a powerful spray booth, but is it safe?

Hey y'all
I work at a sears store and we have a very nice telescoping range hood fan. It's a unique fan that is hard to discribe, but it got me thinking about using a hood fan to make a spray booth. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this and if this type of fan would be safe in a painting enviorment.
