I agree with the guys here, and say get used to the AB you have first, practice, practice and more practice. Once you master the basics, then progress onto the more expensive ABs if you feel you have the need to paint smaller, finer details. I would also recommend a gravity feed , as they are easier to clean up and can spray better at lower pressures. I currently have an Aztec A7778, Badger 200NH, Badger 100LG and a Paasche VL. Oh and don`t forget to buy a compressor if you plan on making lots of models.

You said that your airbrush doesn't paint small details well. But if you don't do a lot of small detail work then this isn't a problem because you were happy with happy with the finish on your car body.

IMHO, hang on to the brush you have while you get used to it and learn what it can do and then once you reach it's limitations take sigmans advice.

BTW I've owned both an Aztec and now an Iwata.

Cheers

I would opt for iwata Jon specially the hp-cs or if you want a little cheaper, opt for a badger. I also recommend for you to get a gravity feed airbrush. my two cents.

Jon, if it works for you then it's the right AB.

These starter brushes, no matter who they are made by are not designed for fine detail work.

However if you're looking at a brush for this sort of work you might want to look at something from Badger, Paasche or Iwata. It, will cost a bit more than $20 but the results will be incomparable.

Have a look at www.dixieart.com to get an idea of what's out there.

until recently, ive painted models with spray cans, but am running out of room to store them in. to conserve space, i bought an Aztek A220 starter kit at Wal-Mart fr $20. i was just wondering, is this airbrush any good, or is it just trash? i noticed that its not very good for small detail stuff, but painted a whole car body with it and it came out nicely. just looking for some opinions and all help is appreciated.
