SilentAire Scorpion I any good?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 10:34 PM
Does anybody know if the SilentAire Scorpion I compressor is any good? I have planned on buying an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS, but have been looking for a compressor to go with it. I recently received the catalog from Bear Air and they have a package of the Scorpion I and the HP-CS for only $199. That sounds great to me since the compressor is $139 and the airbursh is $105. The Scorpion I appears to have a moisture trap and regulator with auto shut off as well. I appreciate any comments.

I have heard good things about them but I do not have any firsthand experience with them. If you want to know more about them then I would give Ernesto Ceraudo a call at Silentaire. He is their compressor expert and he will tell you all about it I am sure. Here's the web address: http://www.silentaircompressor.com/default.htm

I just bought one last month, hear what I can tell you so far:

While not silent it is extremly quiet, I don't think you will have any compliants here. Mine did come with a moisture trap but no regulator, so I did have to purchase that (less then $20.00). It is a small light wieght unit. I did have one problem with the pressure switch, but I called their 800 number and was able to speak to someone in their tech Dept. on my first call ( I was on hold for at most 1 minute!) and He was able to tell me on what to do to resolve my problem. Unfortuntely I am in the middle of house painting and have had little time to actually use my new toy so I can't give you a real report on painting with it. Hope this helps in some way.
