Painting a Carrier Deck
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 1:42 PM
I just received a 1/48 Essex Class Carrier deck made by Eduard. I must say the detail is excellentCool [8D] The problem I have is how am I going to go about painting it so that it resembles a real carrier deck instead of just a grey piece of plasticSad [:(] I don't see how I can paint the individual little black things on the grey deck. There is also the outline of the elevator but as I rember from the Randolph, an Essex Class carrier, with the exception of warning paint lines it was the same color as the deck. Would dry brushing do anythingQuestion [?] Help PleaseBig Smile [:D]

It depends on the theater and lighting of that particular part of the world....
Sometimes it will be a dull grey gray.... or sometimes it will be a light light white greyish...
if in Middle east...

dude don't worry about the color, just worry about it looking realistic

I had a friend from Texas who served on a carrier deck who said that he went through a pair of boots every 2 days, because of the heat.... they melted to the deck..... plus... i have seen pictures of the pyramids in egypt ok, now imagine this on a FLAT deck
beautiful sun going down, nice REDISH pinkish deck.... Cool [8D]

The reason they looked the same was you are not taking in to account the fact that there is a dimension of color.... the deck will look grey because it is the dominating factor..., I f i am wrong then i am wrong but i think i am right... Blush [:I]
