Free Airbrush!!
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, August 6, 2004 12:37 PM
Due to the fact I hate my aztek as much as I do, I will be giving it away. then you will feel my pain. Anywho all I need is shipping cost, if you live in Canada, I'll pay shipping. It's an aztek a370 with 1 nozzle (the black acrylic one) and the adaptor. Free. No strings attached (except that paint string Big Smile [:D])

If you really want it, provide a reason and I'll consider the best option and give them an email (if they have email)

Because I'm using a single-action external-mix airbrush made by Aztek/Testors that's about 8 years old and I'm a cheapskate who won't spend the money on a new one. Big Smile [:D]

I don't think my 430 is horrible, just limited, and a bugger to keep tips clean.

Because I'm a poorman who can't afford to buy one. Even the Wal-Mart 19.97 one is out of my price range. Being unemployed is no fun, but I am getting caught up on the models I stock piled.

I guess I can't make an honest claim on it, since I'm using a bottom=of-the-line Paasche (they're so ashamed of it, it doesn't say Paasche anywhere on it), which looks exactly like a Badger 350, only even cheaper looking. In defense of my need for the Aztek, I have not yet, in three months of owning this thing, been able to make paint or even water come out of it. I mean, I'm poor as a churchmouse these days, unemployed, boo-hoo, etc., but I have 20 years experience with airbrushes and I know there is nothing simpler than this design, so why will a brand new airbrush not provide a spray, even with the air pressure at full blast? I could use suggestions.
As for Aztek, I didn't love mine when I had a really good one. I missed my old badger 200, but these Azteks were being touted as the wave of the future, the first airbrush made specifically for modelers and their particular paints. It was all bunk. But I'd rather have a bad Aztek than a worse Paasche. Oh, well, I can always revert to the Testors 14 dollar spray gun until I can afford the real article again. I didn't pay much more than that for the Paasche, on sale.

I'm not at all familiar with Passche airbrushes, but if nothing will spray even with a lot of pressure something is obviously plugged up (but I guess you figured that out by now Smile [:)]) Paasche's web site has complete parts lists for their brushes, so if it were me I'd strip it down to nothing and make sure every part that is supposed to have a hole in it has a hole in it. It can't work any worse than it is right now.

Does air come out? If you have air but no paint, then it's something in the paint feed. If it has a bottle make sure the vent hole in the bottle isn't plugged or covered by the liner inside the cap (common problem with bottom feeders). Make sure the siphon tube isn't plugged, etc.

If you aren't getting air, unplug the hose at the brush and make sure you are getting air there. If so, it could be a bad air valve. Not sure about Paasche, but Badger air valves can be disassembled and cleaned up. Sometimes paint will blow back that far and get in the valve.

It HAS to be something simple, and it can be fixed. There are some Paasche users around here that can probably help you out.

Personally I think MikeV or Salty should get it so they can see what a real he-man airbrush works like! Have them converted from that Badger / Iwata stuff in no time.

PS ... Just don't send it to me!!!

the current "winner" (read:loser) is Roadkill.

if roadkill decides on a "Not as versitile, non-ergonomic, heavy, un-balanced, stainless steel/brass/chrome airbrush, then i guess salty or mike gets it.

Being an Iwata user, I've NEVER seen where someone wanted to give away an Iwata airbrush. That says something about the Aztek. You'll know it's REALLY bad if you can't even GIVE it away! Ask MikeV what he thinks about Azteks!
