My business is on Vancouver Island but we ship over to Vancouver all the time so we can get it over to SW Marine Drive for nothing and then you can pick it up. Also I will need the exact dimensions. Mig 21 heh? Right on. My buddy bought a Mig 21 helmet in Moscow a couple of years back for 20 USD. Must have been pretty rough being in an un-pressurized cockpit.

I tried to email you but don't know if it went out. How about maple? need a profiled or finished edge? Stained and lacquered or or you going to cover it with something (like good old rocks and blown up houses) let me know. I am on the west coast of British Columbia. About 21/2 hours from Seattle.

It was my pleasure helping you out where I could.
I will look you up on that diorama base offer sometime in the future as that sounds like a great way to go, being that wood is so expensive these days.
My dad was into scrollsaw work a lot before he passed away and there is still a little bit of oak wood at my mom's house but it is not big enough pieces for a diorama, so your situation sounds great.

Thanks a lot for the help Mike. I am walking down to my truck to get my wallet right now. I also posted the diorama base offer on the diorama forum. I have to say that I have been reading these forums for about 10 days or so and I am amazed at the amount of time and effort so many of you guys put in. A real community of friends. I have spent about 2k in the last 10 days on supplies and kits for the fall (hope my wife doesn't find out) as I am just getting back into the hobby after some time away. Sincere thanks to guys like you who give so much of their time. Make sure and get a hold of me when you need some diorama base material.

That idea about wood bases for dioramas sounds great and I would post that idea in the Diorama forum and see what kind of responses you get.

I think you missunderstood me. I have a fairly large woodworking company and some of our off-cuts are very usable but it is often more cost effective for us to throw them away rather than to try and re-cycle them. My thoughts were that maybe some of you guys could use our off cuts as diorama bases. We could cut them to size and profile the edges and ship them out. I just didn't want to have to pay the shipping for something I am giving away. Sounded like a more than fair deal for someone who maybe didn't have access to a custom profiled-edge 24" square piece of maple! Shipping charges would be minimal and we would just send them out collect. Again, I don't want anything for doing this. The amount of time needed to cut them to size and then profile the edges and wrap them should be about the same as what our disposal company charges to remove them. Further, I have noticed that MikeV has spent a ton of time answering peoples questions and I thought that we could try this "give away" out on him first. If he wanted to. Just seems like he has done a lot of work for everyone on the forum and this would be a way of saying thanks. My company would pick up the tab on the shipment to him (can you say tax writeoff) and then I would have an idea of how much shipping costs would be for everyone else. Over to you MikeV...

i doubt he would wanna pay shipping without "having fun"(opening your brush and using it and breaking it) with if first
