The Badger one I saw at the Nationals looks like that one you have.

I wouldn't mount the moisture trap horizontally. Regardless of whether or not you care if it traps moisture, it is going to. Lying horizontally the capacity will be severly reduced, and at some point during your spraying the moisture accumulated will start to get blown out the outlet.

If the item you ordered was specifically a Badger branded trap/regulator and the one you got is not Badger branded, I'd call them and ask why. I don't think it is legal for them to replace a name brand item with a generic item without your permission, and I can't imagine Badger marketing something like that without their name on it.

If they say it is a Badger, send Badger an email along with the link to the picture and ask them if that is the one they are selling. If it is, ask them how to get it to seal properly. Their customer service is great and I'm sure they will help you out. If they say it isn't one of theirs, tell them it was sold to you as a Badger branded item.

I'm starting to think they sent me a regulator/filter/gauge that is not the Badger one. The instruction sheet is for the 50-054. It came in a brown unmarked box. The pics I have seen of the Badger regulator has blue lettering. This one doesn't have any markings except THB in blue and some fine print (in red) on the clear jar. The pics also show the Badger one as having a gauge sitting flat, facing directly away from the center housing. This gauge has its mount on its edge.

Edited later...

I found it. This is the one they sent me: http://www.airbrush-depot.com/images/abdr20.JPG That's not where I bought it from. That's just where I found the pic at. I paid the $55 price for a Badger. The one in the pic is only $30.

Yeah!! [yeah] I know Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Do you know if the filtering works just as good if I have the whole assembly sideways? I mean, what if I strap it flat down to the desk? The drainer won't work in that position, of course. I just want filtering with no leaks. I intend for it to be a remote regulator away from the compressor/tank. I can put a valve to cut off tank pressure to it, and drain it by removing the whole clear cup.

QUOTE: Have you tried tightening it as it may be loose?

I have. Its leak isn't around the external parts of the drain. The leak is in that internal center plug.

QUOTE:
It is not designed to attach anything to it. You drain it with pressure from the air tank through that drain on the bottom of the regulator.

I guess some people just attach a vinyl pipe to it to aim it into something for draining. I've seen pics where there is a black line coming off these drains. I guess that's all it is.

I'll give it some time & see how it goes. If the tank isn't losing pressure all the time, I'll stop worrying about it.

I am getting the full, adjustable range of airbrushing psi though, according to the gauge. That seems to mean that it's all set.

It has to be on the bottom in order to drain the water.

QUOTE: This one is plastic with nothing but a rubber o-ring to seal it. It leaks. Gravity and air pressure are the only things that close it, and gravity and pressure don't always do the job on this thing. I want to either seal it permanently, or replace it with a higher quality assembly.

QUOTE: The clear shell unscrews, so why is this thing even there? I can just take the clear part off to drain it, right?

That is to clean inside it when necessary.

QUOTE: Or, what am I supposed to attach to its black drain nipple down there? Maybe I could keep the drain sealed shut from whatever it is that attaches to that tip.
