For my money, lacquer thinner is you're best bet. You could buy a years supply for a couple dollars versus what you would pay at a LHS for their "cleaners".

With regular cleaners I meant the airbrush cleaners you buy at the lhs. Small bottle , big price. Are they good for cleaning enamels and acrylics, or just the waterbased paints?

Most people use a cheap cleaner that works well such as lacquer thinner.
Turpentine, mineral spirits and others will also work well.

I'm with you in that I spray mostly enamels, MM, Humbrol & Xtracolour. To rinse my AB between colours I use turpentine and to clean out the whole assembly when I'm finished spraying I use lacquer thinner.

Not sure what you mean by regular cleaners though.
