Spraying right from a MM bottle?

Basically you are talking about the difference between a siphon feed brush (spraying straight frmo the bottle) and a gravity feed brush (using a color cup). The gravity feed is going to feed slightly better at very low pressure, but other than that there isn't a real difference. I have a siphon feed Omni 3000 and a gravity feed Omni 4000 and at normal pressure they behave about the same.

Yeah, it'll work either way...just wondering if you guys had a preference or knew which one worked better.

On the Paasche H, whether you use the bottle or cup, it's still a siphon feed. Advantage of the bottle is the volume of paint it can hold. Good if your spraying a really large area. Advantage of the cup is it's much easier to clean & will never stop paint flowing because of a bleed hole clog. For all modeling purposes, I much prefer using the cup.

I'm a die-hard Aztek user (call me insane) and as with many airbrush sets, mine came with color cups in addition to siphon feed bottle. I tried using the color cups two or three times and after spilling paint all over the airbrush and one model, they were cleaned, packed up, and never used since. I now have five siphon feed bottles that I use exclusively.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I ordered a couple 1/2 oz lids for my brush this morning, to fit onto my MM bottles. Just seems to work well, so why not sitck with it?

I've often wanted to, but I have to thin it. Only metalizer and Acryl are thin enough to airbrush from the bottle. Do you not use Model Master enamels?

Yup, that's what I use. What I do is I have a "special" set of MM bottles that I thin and leave in the original bottles. Then I just hook them up to the airbrush and away I go.

I spray directly from the MM bottles and love it... there's half the cleanup, more volume. Depending on the color, mostly the gloss variety, I have had to thin. I am a sworn convert to this now.

What type of brush do you use?

For the moment an Aztec 470, my backup brush. Of course it helps that the lids are the same size as the bottles. I tried it when I did a P-61 Black Widow. I had this bottle of MM Flat Black and decided what a pain it was to pipette it out, thin etc.. So since it was half full I just thinned it in the bottle and went to town... a lot less messy cleanup. Since then Any major solid color painting I do is right from the bottle. I just put a piece of purple tape on the bottles so I remember they are thinned.

That's what I do! Makes life a lot simpler; can't wait to get the 1/2oz lids for my Paasche H, thought the old Aztek 220 servers until then (hopefully some time this week).

yeah I am in the market for a new airbrush... my dad decided to get back into modelling so probably will give this one to him. It does the job, just a little cumbersome at times. Meanwhile I watch the threads about airbrushes and such. I am kind of looking at a Paasche Mil set, I guess I need to post a topic on that and see if anyone has anything to say about them.

Good to hear they have the 1/2 adapter for the Paasche though, it would be hard to go back to all the mixing etc... I have a lot of frequent colors I use and this is real convenient to have them premade.
