help!! brush disaster!!!

ok, im gonna try the saliva thing. lucky i didnt butcher the brushes!!!hehehe

i rubbed the bristtles between my fingers and that helped a little...
i also got some new brushes aswell :) but that brings me to another question ho the f#@k do brush sizes work?

With all due respect to what roosterfish said, I would not put paint brushes in my mouth that have had toxic cleaners in them.
Everyone used to do that years ago but it is no longer advised by those in the art world. They all say to form the bristles with your fingers now instead of your mouth.

Don't trim the hairs on the brush. The would completely ruin them. Hairs on a brush have a natural worn to a point on the tip of the brush. Cutting the hairs would give the hairs a square tip that will not allow the capillary action of the worn tip to work with paint.

You need to retrain your bristles to come to a point again. Take a dry brush and (ick) put it in your mouth to get saliva on it. The saliva acts as a glue to train the bristles. It is just like slicking down your hair with spit. The brush hairs will start going back into position. After doing it a couple of times the hairs should fall back into place. Even an unbent bristles on a brush should have saliva on them. It keeps the individual hairs together. I've done it for decades and I still have all my original brushes. OK, I'm missing one...it got run over by a car.

You might try getting some brush conditioner available at art stores.
