I use Easy Off oven cleaner. I've used it on paint that was 10 years old. It works fast but if the paint is really thick, you may need a couple of applications.Smile [:)]

using brake fluid is a sure way to take off paint no mater how long the paint has been aplied for. and just use a small amount.
