I have an x-wing fighter where I decided that an R2-D2 unit in the back wasn't good enough, so I put an AT-AT where R2 is supposed to be. Just kiddin'...

I, like ChemMan used a Badger 350 for a long time then finally bought the Anthem. I sure have no regrets about it's performance and ease of cleaning it. As a matter of fact I really like it.

I boutht an Anthem about a year ago and I would agree with Mike V's comments.

Before purchasing the Anthem I jogged along with a Badger 350, which is really not a bad airbrush if you get used to it. I still use it when painting large areas like car bodies.

So far I've painted reltatively simple tri color schems, etc., and I get good demarcation lines. I can't say I have tried a challenging freehand camo scheme yet, though. I have been practicing when I have a little paint left over after a normal job. I keep my "test" model right next to the bench - an old Monogram F-4 that I use to practice demarcation lines. LOL You never know what colors I have left over so that F-4 sports one of the wildest camo jobs ever. Seriously, I think I'll feel relatively comfortable if I ever get time to do SEA or German camo.

Like you I got a good price on the Anthem so I didn't get the other choice I was considering - an Iwata. I don't have any experience with the Omni.

All I can say is that it will be quite a while before my talents exceed those of the airbrush.

The Anthem is an excellent siphon-feed airbrush and I like it very much.
The Omni 4000 is also an excellent airbrush but being a gravity-feed it has the advantage of being able to reliably spray at lower pressures, creating less overspray and it is a bit easier to clean because of the built-in color cup.
You would be very happy with either I believe.
In regards to using a credit card online, it is really safer than using it in public.
I don't know what your brother did but I have used my credit card multiple times and although I did have a problem once, there have never been any other troubles. If you use a website that has 128 bit encryption it is very safe.
Do you think it is difficult for the kid working at the hobby shop to write your credit card number down after you leave and share it with his friends?
It is not 100% safe anywhere really and many of the online sellers now ask for the 3-digit code on the back of the card for verification.
If you don't want to use your credit card number online then call the place you want to buy it from and order it on the phone. Do not use a cell phone or a cordless phone though as it is possible that someone could pick up the card number somehow.

Mike

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. " Charles Spurgeon

I've tried a search for the Badger Anthem so I'll ask here. Is the anthem any good. I can get it at Micheal's half off, so it wouold be well under $70. I'm considering Omni 4000 also so, I can't decide. I would have to order Omni off internet and i dont like ordering stuff off the net yet. I don't like it. My brother got his credit card number stolen not once but twice at different places.
