How do i prevent Air leaks?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 10:47 PM
With all the various brass fittings i had to buy to connect my AB to my compressor there are a number of leaks. It is only minor but it is kind of annnoying. Should i use thread tape or buy some rubber 'o' rings to fix the leak?any suggestions welcome.

I'd recommend teflon thread tape.

You can check for leaks with a spray bottle filled with water and some dish soap. Look for bubbles ---- no bubbles = no leaks.

I don't know if you can ever get them perfectly air tight. My compressor bleeds down and runs probably once every two to three days.

Also, my AB's bleed air causing the compressor to kick in all the time. I installed a shut-off valve between the compressor and the pressure regulator/water trap.

Good luck.

Cheers i will do the thread tape thing, luckily my compressor has a cutoff valve so leakage is only a problem while i am actually using the AB.
