Badger 150/Anthem
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 23, 2004 12:09 PM
I've narrowed my airbrush selection to these two. I have a couple questions though.

1) Does the single needle setup on the Anthem make it more difficult to reach a desired spray size? IE is it a lot easier to spend the extra money for the 3 needles on the 150?

2) I'll be buying a silent scorpion II compressor at Hobby Lobby when I place my order for my new airbrush. Does anyone know if I'll need another adapter?

3) Of the two, which AB would you recommend? They both seem very similar.

Thanks,

Jamey

I would recommend the 155 just because it is less hassle with the one nozzle and needle than the 150 with 3 different head and needle combo's. And if your using it for models only the fine head for the 150 will not spray model paint that well.

I have to disagree with the comment about the 150 fine head. I have a 150, and that's the head I alway use. I do spray acrylics only, but I've never had a problem with the fine head.

I say go 155. it's only $49 at dixie art, and that great rear handle doesn't make you disassmeble the whole thing to get at the needle. parts are cheaper then dirt, and it's perfectly balanced.

I haven't used the 155, I have a 175.. but I have heard a lot of 155 owners very happy with their purchase lately... they are both good airbrushes... but for cleanup alone I think I would pick the 155 if I had to do it all over again...

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I placed the order for the 155 this evening. Can't wait to shoot some paint with it.

I also prefer the 155 Anthem as it is just better all around.
The only negative is that you have to remove the needle out the back of the airbrush but that is really no big deal.

In regards to the fine needle/tip in the 150, you can use a fine needle/tip with acrylics but it is more problematic than the medium combo.
I also doubt many of you could spray a finer line with the fine combo over the medium either. Wink [;)]

with model paints, that is.

I own and use [almost daily] a 155, I could never have been happier. I love badger. I can't say how good this airbrush is. Sure, from time to time it sprays out a little red, that's because I didn't clean it well, all my fault. Mike, do you mean to tell me you can take the needle out the fron on other badger's?

Yes you can if you remove the head assembly.
