Wear that apron when you paint
Posted by MikeV on Monday, October 11, 2004 10:20 PM
I made a rookie mistake this evening and was not wearing my shop apron that I just bought from Micro-Mark a while back. Black Eye [B)]
I had paint in the cup of my Badger 360 and forgot to remove the aircap cover.
When I grabbed the cover and twisted it to remove it, the color cup rotated 90 degrees and poured Neutral Gray MM Acryl out leaving three nice drops on my Khaki colored shorts. So I grabbed the Acryl cleaner and squirted it onto the shorts and scrubbed it with a scrub brush and then used some water on it.
It pretty much completely came out but it is slightly faded where I scrubbed it.
Another of life's modeling lessons we have to learn the hard way sometimes. Big Smile [:D]Wink [;)]

It must have something to do with grey paint and khaki shorts.

I have two pairs of these shorts and managed last summer to spill MM enamel grey on both of them inside a week Censored [censored]Censored [censored].

Let's just say that the "boss" wasn't exactly thrilled Big Smile [:D]

I am thinking it is the MM Grey series... mine was Light Gull Grey, the shorts... blue jean... pretty much same story as Mike's... which is also ironic... the aircap cover on my 155 is on there pretty tight... was getting ready to spray, saw it was still on, made the twist... didn't get on my shorts but went down my leg instead..

Also when you're working at the bench. There is a possibility that a dropped part, as opposed to one that is catapulted, will wind up in the lap of the apron instead of in the rug...

News Flash.. just don't wear any "good Cloths:" that you wife will object to getting painted..

When I first started Airbrushing i had a "insident" the first time I tried the blowback trick. putting finger over end to blow paint in airbrush back into bottle. I had the pressure to high and the siphon feed to low and it was in the paint in the bottle.. I got a chest and facefull of Model Master gunmetal.... good thing i was wearing my respirator..lol

Hey! I object to my good clothes getting painted in a variety of RLM colours!

That's why I look like a vagrant most weekends in worn out jeans and faded old T-shirts!

It's not a fashion statement, more a statement of intent!

You guys are just looking at it wrong, you now have dessert/urban camoflauge shorts. Just add a touch of blue and green and you can wear them in big city and tropical settings as well.Wink [;)]

It's a good idea not to wear good shoes. I had brand new white Nike shoes on and decided to paint the inside of the speed brakes red. That night when I got ready to go to bed if found red splotches all over my white shoes. Could I get it off? Nooooooo, I couldn't.Boohoo [BH]Boohoo [BH]

Berny,

Maybe some of those shoe covers that surgeons wear would come in handy for painting? I wonder where you can get those?

Any medical supply store should have them, Mike. Most of your bigger cities will have one. Heck! Even Fort Smith, AR has one!!!! That's where I buy my gloves.

Thanks Randy.

I can see it now: respirator, apron, gloves and shoe covers.
It's starting to sound like a clean room here in the Silicon Valley.
We might as well put on a bunny suit like this person here. Laugh [(-D]
