Gregsn, post some pictures when you're done.

I'd love to see how it works out.

Thanks for your help. I'm now in the process of re-painting the belly with different shades of black. Greg

Gregsn, I am in a similar position to yourself, in that I am working on a Do217K, which has a black underside, with RLM 76 uppers.

Having looked at numerous photos of this camo scheme on the real thing, one thing is clear, there are many shades of black, or should that be grey? As Dgarrington points out, I was therefore looking to pre-shade all the panel lines in black, then apply different shades of very dark grey to each panel.

I know it sounds time consuming, but having looked at the real thing, even neighbouring panels were differing shades! I was then going to finish off with a black/dark brown sludge wash.

Look forward to seeing the finished article.

You could also use the same color of the fuselage lighted a bit with white or grey.. not a lot.. just enough to accent the panel lines...

Personally I would use a brown wash on the black, but don`t just paint the underside black, use some grey or white with the black to lighten it up a bit. This will also benefit the brown wash.

I am building a 1/72 Heinkel 219 night fighter. The under belly is black. What color wash would you recommend? Thanks.
