yup! a great place to get info! I started out with a compressor and regulator from Lowes.. the only thing I changed on mine was the pressure gauge... but trying to read pressure off an industrial one is like reaching into a box of drill bits in the dark and trying to guess which one is 7/16" by touch...

Glad you enjoy it here!

I got a reply. They suggest getting the Badger filter/regulator and guage made by them. I took the suggestion and ordered that and an airbrush holder from Dixie. Figured that if I kitted myself with Badger, might as well use what they designed for their equipment. Thanks for all the help.

I do think that the regulator I got was not fine enough in its ability to handle low flows.

These forums are great for this stuff!!!!

I've emailed them amd had to wait a day or two for a reply but they did get back with me... I needed another manual for my 175 and they emailed me to get my address and one was in the mail (free of charge) and I got it 5 days later... if it hasn't been long give them a little time, they seem real eager to please!

QUOTE: I have an e-mail into Badger to ask about the auto shut off, but I have not had any luck in getting them to respond on this question or others I have had about air-brushes.

If you have problems getting them to respond use the email address Kenbadger@aol.com That is the email address of Ken Schlotfeldt who is the president of Badger. He posts here from time to time and is very conscientious about the customer service that Badger provides.

Thanks for the replies. THe regulator I got is for air, but is acting as if it is too 'coarse' for my application. I ordered a regulator that is supposed to be 'finer' in it's ability to control lower air flows. I have an e-mail into Badger to ask about the auto shut off, but I have not had any luck in getting them to respond on this question or others I have had about air-brushes. We shall see and when I solve this I will post the correct configuration for to spare others the same frustration.

nawww... I know which regulator you got and it's not for water... I think the pressure setting for the cutoff is the answer but not having one like yours you'll have to wait for someone who knows that kind better...

The pressure switch you are using is for a water pump.
If the pressure drop below a certain level it switch off to proteck the pump.
Use a pressure swith made for compresseur.

The compressor's auto-off switch is most likely sensing the restriction caused by the regulator as a loss in airflow and thinks that it should turn the motor off. I have no idea if the sensitivity can be adjusted or not, but it's possible. Badger has great customer service and if you send them an email they will probably be able to help you out.

Compressor and Regulator
Posted by jowdawg on Monday, October 18, 2004 4:26 PM
I just got a new Badger Cyclone II compressor and wanted to regulate the airflow/pressure. I went to Home Depot and grabbed a 1/4" NPT Husky regulator and hooked 'em up. The problem I am having is getting pressures below 20psi. The compressor cuts out and stops running when I try to lower the output. I think this is happening because of the automatic shut off on the compressor but I don't know how to remedy it. Did I get the wrong regulator, or is there something I can do to change the shut-off setting? Any exoert out there have a work around? Thanks
