ahhhh I see the problem Roy...

you put the clear matt on BEFORE washing.... the acryl sticks to that stuff like a magnet....shoulda washed after the gloss, it's easier to get off the excess like that... or dry brushed your weathering on the glat at worst... my take would be one of a few things:

If the paint is not too thick already, just paint over the top with the OD and gloss, redecal, regloss again, wash, then dull coat.

second choice would be strip the model of paint and start over... (not very appeasing if it were me)

only other thing I could think of, if the paint is getting a little thick with all the coats would be to lightly sand it until is is getting close to the styrene, go to smaller grits till it is starting to get shiny... then paint the top over...

Have you ever used Future? it's a lot cheaper than gloss... I forget where you're from but it's available under one name or the other all over! good gloss for the buck! and your windshields and cockpits will thank you too!

swannysmodels.com sure you've seen people referred to this site but if ya haven't read the future tips it's great! also a good spot on weathering on there...

Big Smile [:D]well 9900 we meet againBig Smile [:D]did your wheels on the ground.? for the base coat i used mm-olive drab, when i put the decals on i first used.Micro sol,i waited over night for them to dry and then used humbrol clear gloss 1 coat, dry over night and then used humbrol clear matt 3 coats.that was a week ago,i put the wash on today.the to top decals are realy black, the sides are not bad at all.i could repaint the top and use another decal,or make the wash darker and put the decal on again.??? thanks for your replyBig Smile [:D]

hmmm what was the paint underneath? a flat or gloss? did you use future first?

sounds like the acrylic bonded to your paint... here's a good link to weathering:

swannysmodels.com look to the bottom right and there is a tips and tools link...

sorry I can't help you more than that!

---edit---

and no that doesn't sound normal, at least in my experience... thats why I asked the questions I did.. are the decals blackened too? if not maybe you could use liquid mask real carefully and then be able to paint the top again with a light coat of the base color...

I'm sure this wont sound funny to ya as ya probably put some work into this... but you could put it on a woode base and call it a West Virginia Ambulance... (coal mines) Wink [;)]
