Like Rick said, no best way. Only what works best for you.

I prefer to spray the lighter color first, then put a trip of tape down to mask where the light needs to stay. To me it's easier to spray black over white than white over black.

No best way. I prefer to mask & paint the stripes as the last step, but I'm sure others might prefer to paint them first & then mask for the main colors. Both methods work.

What is the best way to paint stripes, such as invasion stripes on WWII aircraft? Is it best to mask the stripe area when painting the main color or just paint the stripes after the main color dries?
