VL Retired to Support Duties
Posted by Model Grandpa on Sunday, October 31, 2004 12:50 PM
It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that after many year of faithful service (mostly painting lexan RC bodies) my Paasche VL airbrush is being retired from front line service into a support roll. It will spend its remaining service life spraying primer, clear coats, etc.

Replacing it in frontline service will be an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS. After evaluation testing its ability to shoot a finer line and shoot at lower pressures brings it to the forefront of airbrushing (for me). It is well balanced in the hand and easy to use. Also its ease of clean up was a deciding factor.

Here is a picture of the new brush.

Here is a picture of a 1/72 scale Ki-36 which was my first attempt at using the Eclipse and also my first attempt at pre-shading. The pre-shading is very subtle, which is what I wanted for this aircraft. The Ju-88 I have in the closet may actually get built and get a squiggly paint job after I get some more experience with this airbrush. Sorry for the bad picture, my ancient Kodak Digital Camera is the next piece of equipment that gets replaced in my inventory.

Glad to see you're happy! I recently retired my Badger 200IL to reserve status and put the Omni4000 to the front lines and I must say it was a great move! Can't wait to see finished pics of your Ki-36.

I have heard that the Omni 4000 is a very nice piece of equipment. I was considering it before I ordered the Eclipse. I would have ordered one but none of my suppliers were stocking it at the time. I’m happy with my choice right now.

The Ki-36 is inches its way to the finish, pictures soon.

Keep us informed on how it does for you.

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. " Charles Spurgeon
