Help, ruined rattle can spray job.
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 7:11 AM
can anyone give me some advice? i've just built a sabre and thought to save mixing paint i would use auto rattle cans for the silver finish. BUT it has sort of eaten into the paint leaving a orange peel finish that is quite deep.hope fully someone will have some tips to help me rcover this model as the cockpit alone took me a week and a half to do. If i can't repair it i might just have to try the airplane junkyard dio iv'e had in the back of my mind for a while.Smile [:)] cheers

If you sprayed an unprimed model with Lacquer based Automotive touch up paint & it etched into the plastic, it's pretty much a lost cause. If the orange peel came from painting to close or to heavy, you might be able to sand it smooth & repaint. At worst, strip the paint & start over.

Lets hope you did'nt use lacquer paint. If not, like Rick suggested, get out the sandpaper.
Good Luck!My 2 cents [2c]
