Iwata Smart Jet compressor - anybody have it?

To anyone having a SmartJet, can someone please explain the use of the two screws at the bottom of the moisture trap? I have been using the screws to reduce my shooting pressure but can't figure out why there are two.

P.S. If you are shooting at max pressure and the compressor is going on and
off, that means that you have a leak in the line and the teflon tape on the
fittings will remedy that condition. If you open the bleed screws and shoot
at anything less than max (which is where modelers will be 99% of the
time) the automatic shutoff doesn't work. But all in all it is a very fine
compressor.

I''ve got a Smart Jet Pro & it was starting up every 10 seconds or so. I then wrapped the major connections up with teflon tape & it's been behaving much better since then. No problems with pulsing & the regulator works well, I can shoot anywhere from 8psi to 40psi without a problem. This model comes w. a moisture trap.

yep. avoid the smart jet cause the auto shut off is a waste of money, and it's really annoying when it switches on and off like 30 times a minute.

the remarks regarding the Sprint Jet. Had a minor problem with mine-it quit for some reason but did restart after a few minutes. Just thought you might want to know this. In any case I think you will be happy with the Sprint Jet.

I have the Iwata Smart Jet that I ordered from DixieArt. If I were to do it again, I would save a little money and get the Sprint Jet. I am very happy with the compressor and it is pretty quiet but here is the difference. The compressor, according to the supplied regulator, puts out about 40 lbs. If the pressure remains steady at that level, the auto shut off kicks in until you start shooting again which will reduce the pressure level and the mortor automatically starts again.

I usually shoot around 20 lbs. or less and so anything below 40 lbs. the auto shut off doesn't work and the compressor keeps running. So basically, the Smart Jet was a waste of money for the auto shutoff feature that most modelers won't use. Wish I would have known that and that is really my only complaint. The compressor comes with a regulator and moisture trap. DixieArt had the best price and there was no shipping for any orders over $50.00.

I also ordered a hose and a HP C and then a HP CS air brush. Both are nice matches for the Iwata compressor. I did get extra fittings that came either with the compressor or the hose that I bought ( I can't remember which one). There were several fitting sizes and one matched a single action Pasche that I had. I also had a Binks Wren that also fit one of the fittings.

I have got a compressor that is very similar to the smart/sprint jet.

This type of compressor tends to hum/vibrate quiet a bit and, IME, tend to have a slight pulsation to the airflow. Adding a second water-trap is recommended this will also help with the pulsation problem.

Another thing to look out for they tend to overheat if run more than 15 min. nonstop and than should rest for 15 minutes before being used again.

Not a bad compressor at all, should work ok with both your airbrushes, yes, adapters can be had.
