well, if noise is not an issue for you, i'd go with an industrial type compressor. i purchased a 7 gallon 2.5hp Companion compressor from Sears for $130!! its beyond loud, but i keep it out under the carport far away from my workbench and can barely hear it when she comes on. don't forget a moisture trap, as most compressors don't come with one. later.

try for a whirlwind, or an iwata sprint jet. it's maybe $150, it comes with moisture trap and presure reg, and it's iwata.

Check the Badger web site garage sales. I purchased a Millionair Silent compressor for around $200.00, you can't hear a thing and it operates two A/B's. These normally run about $400.00. Also an option is to go the Co2 cylinder route. They're available from your local *carbonic gas dealer (soda venders, etc.) and a 10 Llb tank can be had for just under $100.00 (prices can vary depending on your area). A 10 lb. tank can spray up to 20 or so models before it has to be refilled, for a modest fee. These tanks are silent, don't require a moisture trap and can be regulated. Check um' out.

Just don't go for ane of those membrane-pumps, like Revell used to have, they're very cheap, silent and you don't get enough pressure from it.
