actually you could start right here! just do a search for "thinner ratio" or "which paint is best" and you will come up with tins of posts on it.. I know just in the last month or so the subject has been breached at least 7 or 8 times...

techniques you can read about here, but if you can find you a book like the two that were mentioned it would help, or go to http://www.testors.com/hobbyist_guides.asp and check out the pdf on airbrushing.. actually all of the guides are decent on that site... can get a lot of tips about modeling as a whole!

Good luck to you! Best thing to do is if you have an old or cheap model practice!!! just play around and get used to holding the airbrush....

there is a book called "How to Use an Airbrush". it takes you through painting NMF, and many different types of camo. But you need to have a good double action internal mix airbrush for this book to be any help at all. (Like a 155 anthem Big Smile [:D])

what i did was go to you local Auto Parts Body Shop and talk to them about getting a book called Graphix painting its yellow and has a lot of nice detail on how to do this kind of work... Then look up the web addy for Auto Air Paint and fined the dealer near you.. This paint is in water base so if you make a mistake its easy to take care of. Also you will learn a great thing because the Clear you will use is Automotive Acrylic Urethane Lacquer so you will learn how to use this stuff that also can be in color paints later on and mix the same way as the clear is.

Good luck

Newbie here ready to start learning airburshing. Can anyone recommend a decent book/site that can help get me started? I looking for info on paints, paint to thinner ratios, which thinners to use, and some techniques.

I am currently building my spray booth and getting supplies I will need. Only once I have a good feel for airbrushing will I start building a model.

Thanks all. this place has been very helpfull!
