HELP - How to PROPERLY use air compressor regulator
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 30, 2004 12:29 PM
Hello all. My air compressor regulator is acting up a bit. I plan to replace it with one that's a little more accurate; I also want a gage that has more accurate readings at low pressures.

Anyhow, when I've cranked up my compressor, the tank is full at 125 psi, what is the proper way to dial in the desired pressure for my airbrush?

Do I dial in the regulator pressure when the airbrush is closed or OFF? Or do I hold the air valve open (Paasche H) and adjust the pressure that way? I did it this way last night, I simply removed the color cup until I got what I thought was the proper pressure.

As always, thanks for your help. I greatly appreciate your input.

I always set my pressure with the airbrush at rest, others do it while spraying.
It doesn't really matter as it is just a reference point to go by. Wink [;)]

Like Mike said, it's just a reference so you can get back to that same point so it doesn't really matter. I always set mine with the valve open.
