Thanks for your reply, MusicCity! It was indeed "foreign matter" in the spray tip but it wasn't paint, I think. I kept filling the cup with thinner and back-flushing until whatever it was worked free and back into the cup. I must have run some bad paint through on my last session that had some hardened binder or something. Anyhow, I have completed the mottling on my Komet. so, I may get it done today yet!

It could well be dried paint in the nozzle. The air cap and air cap body unscrew from the main brush body, and the nozzle itself is just seated into the brush body. Mine was somewhat tight the first time I pulled it out, but it is just beveled to fit into the body, not threaded. When I put it back I put a little needle lube on it to keep it from binding again. Try taking it out and soaking it in some laquer thinner.

Also check to make sure you don't have an air leak between your compressor and brush or a kink in your hose somewhere.

Omni 4000 Help

This has probably been discussed here before but do you think I can find it? Not a chance! I've got 5 hours left on Mad Komet Day and today is the day my AB decided it only wants to spray paint intermittently. Even when I rock the lever all the way back I don't get a steady flow. Thinner flows freely through it, though. I've coaxed it enough to do the general pattern but now I'm trying to do the mottle.

Now, I pulled the nozzle apart to see if by chance the air passages are a little blocked but they're open. I pulled the needle out as well and it was fine. The only thing I haven't done is take the spray tip off to see if there is any bit of dried paint in there because I don't actually know how. It seems to be on quite solidly and I'm not sure if it's press fit or threaded. And yes, I always back flush the AB after use.

I did notice some thinner spitting out between the nozzle head, the body and the O-ring which suggests a blockage somewhere. I tightened it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
