Vallejo model paints- retail outlet
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, January 17, 2005 6:08 PM
Help,

I have contacted both r-k productions (importer/distributor) and Steven's International east coast distributor refered to by r-k production for a retail shop to purchase Vallejo paint. Both companies said that they can not give me the name of a shop, but steve's said they thaey are more than happy to sell me some.

I want to buy retail at first....... SO can anyone refer me to a retail outlet whom handles "Vallejo model color" paints in the NY city suburbs. I live in Westchester county about an hour north of Manhattan. I am in the 914, 201, 845 are code, 10567 zip code area. Thanks in advance.

Ps, they both said (RK and Stevens) that they would send me Vallejo color charts, but I have yet to receive them. It has been a long time.

You're best bet is to look up local hobby stores and call around and ask. HobbyRetailer.com might be a good place to look for a listing of local hobby stores.

If it's not too far out of your way, you might want to take a trip to Saratoga Soldier. If you check out their website, look under the Paint Shop link to see what they carry.

I recently ordered some Vallejo paints to try them out. I did a google search on Vallejo and was given a number of places I could order them on the internet. I settled for a store in Florida. I think the name of the store was Strange Cargo which is a funny name for a hobby/craft dealer but they do a lot of figure stuff. Their prices were the cheapest and I got a free color for filing out their internet questioner. They also shipped very fast and I would not hesitate to order from them again. If you really need the name of the store and I the name I provided was incorrect, I can check my records for the correct name.

Hope this helps you.

I'd be interested in the name of the store and the link if possible. I've heard nothing but good things said about Vallejo paints in the past, especially in regards to miniatures.

Well this is the only place I know of thats established and carries both model and air from Vallejo, only catch is it on the west coast here in my town. Heres the link anyways because you can order from them.

www.brookhursthobbies.com

Left hand side near the bottom for the links says a to z... go to V and get vallejo

Keeping in Statue with this fine site... I am in no way affiliated, but a rabid supporterBig Smile [:D], this is my LHS.

David Voss,

Here is the link to the store where I bought my Vallejo paints. I think they have the best prices and don't forget to complete the survey for the extra color.

Squadron carries Andrea, which is the identical paint with a different label.

hmm good to know Rick, thanks!

Dave, I think you'll like the Vallejo paints. you have to put on several light coats when air brushing as they don't like being applied too thick but oh what a finish!! very smooth and consistent. One of the main things for me is there is no paint waste. Since it is a dropper style bottle you just drop out the amoutn you think you need and that's it! I have been told by some people using it longer than me to thin it with their brand of thinner only, or distilled water. I use the thinner as it appears to have a retarder in it and it seems to dry better for me. From the description on the side of the thinner it mentiones will not speed up drying and will not let the paint lose its adhesion ability so maybe it has an adhesion aid too?

They have a complete line for figures as well if I remember right...
