Gunze Sangyo compatibility to Tamiya ?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 23, 2005 7:35 PM
With a coat of Gunze Sangyo on my Fw-190 I applied a coat of Tamiya. After a few minutes cure time, the paint crackled ! Is there a basic incompatibility between the two? I suppose next time I'll just abraid the surface and clean with grain alcohol. Any other suggestions?

Both were acrylics. Airbrushed of course. Low humidty with a temp in the fifties. The latter condition I thought was the cause initially.

Lopper Both manufacturers paints are compatible, sounds like you just might have to leave the paint to cure for 24 hours before overcoating with the other manufacturer's paint. Tamiya acrylics are known for needing a long period between coats, so this would seem the most likely explanantion.
