Painting Vinyl?
Posted by Cudamav on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 3:09 PM
I know that you can not use enamel on vinyl because it will not dry and could damage the model, but I was wondering if you could use it after you put on a coat or 2 of primer.

Also, what brands of primer /paint would you recommend for painting vinyl. Most of what I own now are either Model Master Acrylic or enamel.

Thanks in advance:)

If you plan on using ANY colour on a vinyl kit it is recommended to prime the kit first(after washing it naturally).

I use either Gunze or Tamiya primers, but a wide variety of primers will work.

Just make sure that you wash the vinyl very well. I've painted it with acrylics with and without primer. The Tamiya primer works particularily well.
