I'm at work so I can't take a look at mine, however I would think that the needle should be centered on the nozzle. It could be that the nozzle itself is not properly seated. It seats in a cone-shaped bore on the brush body, but it only takes a little bit of dirt on one side to keep it from seathing properly. Also, since the needle is held from the rear it doesn't take much of a bend to move the front a few thousandths.
