Only use the Castrol Super Clean"Degreaser" as Mikes shown above!! The other Castrol wheel cleaners are not as strong as the "Degreaser" and will not remove the paint as easy or as fast as the degreaser..I had parts in a bottle of wheel cleaner made by Castrol and they sat there for over three days even with hard brushing and the paint did not all come off.. I replaced the wheel cleaner with my last bottle of degreaser and it was off the next morning...Thinking that thats not right! I put a few more plastic parts from a "Lot" I'd bought on eBay and the next morning with just a light wipe of a brush and running water all the paint was removed...So.. I learned that "Not all Castrol super cleaner are Equal!! Looks the same as mikes bottle above but has castrol SUPER CLEAN spray & rinse ALL WHEEL CLEANER...Dont use that one or you'll be UpSet!!! The Castrol website doesn't say anything about it being discontinued, maybe K-mart just isn't going to carry it anymore. Its available at Wal-Mart and about any autoparts store.

Castrol Super Clean is a heavy-duty degreaser.
It looks like this:
I put the part in a container and spray CSC all over it and let it sit for an hour or so.
Come back and scrub an area with an old toothbrush and see how much the paint is coming off. Make sure you WEAR GLOVES with this stuff as it can remove skin over time if exposed to it for too long.
You can read about it here in this excellent article on removing paint.

So What Exactly Is Castrol Super Clean
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, February 20, 2005 11:14 PM
I recently had some problems with a two-tone paint job I did and would like to strip all the paint off and start again from scratch. From looking around here I see a lot of recommendations for using Castrol Super Clean or Oven Cleaner.

What is Castrol Super Clean? I suspect it is auto related due to the name Castrol, but we all know what happens when one assumes....Smile [:)] Also what is the best way to use it, and/or the oven cleaner for stripping paint from styrene.

This will be the first time I have attempted to completly remove a paint job. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.
