T-55 colours?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, February 24, 2005 6:10 PM
hi guys I was wondering if I could use a intermediate blue seeing that I have a limited supply of paints and the LHS is preaty far to go for one paint ( I'll have to go and get a modelSmile [:)]) I've seen a picture ( below ) and it looks like blue or at least preaty close.

Edit: I want to do a desert version, can a Desert yellow work? or Dark yellow?

Thanks for the help

This link:
http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_fs.htm
shows Tamiya XF-51 as being FS-34088. If you go to that page and click the FS number link it will show a sample of the color. You can pick something that is close enough. The only other match they list is a mix of Humbrol 155 and 159.

Edit ... This page:
http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_tamiya.htm
shows Humbrol 108 as a replacement for XF-51 but it's the only replacement listed.

Looks like russian armor green to my eyes...
Doesnt look blueish at all. It's just that russian armor green has a nice tint a bit like european green.
You should try modelmaster russian armor green. It is the name of the colour.
