Airbrush lubrication
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, February 27, 2005 1:19 PM
A friend of mine recommended me to lubricate my badger airbrush, however I was wondering what kind of lubricate should I use and what does the lubrication will make to the paint, this just don't make me sense.

Do you have any advise?

Thanks

Saul,

Get some Badger Needle Juice.
It will make the airbrush smoother, help cutdown on paint drying in the airbrush and it will NOT affect any paints in comes into contact with.

I second that remark... my airbrush and I are on a lot better terms since I bought some!!!

---edit---

if your LHS doesn't have it you can get it online at www.squadron.com, www.dixieart.com and a few other places... www.greatmodels.com carries the Iwata Medea Lube which is basically the same thing...

I tried ordering some from DixieArt last week, but they are out of stock. I just went out to Squdrom.com, and could not find it in their on-line catalog.

Many large art supply stores will carry it. I got Medea Superlube at the local Plaaza Art Supply store. Also, someone (MikeV, maybe?) mentioned recently that the primary ingredient in most of them is glycerine. You might still be able to find that at drug stores.

Try BearAir or Coast Airbrush, they should have them.

Glycerine can be used but it is not the main ingredient in these lubes as far as I know. Wink [;)]

Beeswax is not a lubrication substance.
It is used to seal the tip I believe on some airbrushes.

Gabo,

Do you have a drugstore around?
You can use glycerine to lube the airbrush if there is nothing else.
A bottle of Badger Needle Juice or Medea's Super Lube will last you many years, so if there is any chance of getting some go ahead and pick some up.
