I had an Aztek... now I have 2 Badgers and couldnt be happier!!! especiallt the 155 Anthem Tanky mentioned... that one is my all around brush,, fine detail to broad coverage...

Three brushes come to mind, the Badger 155... the Iwata line, the Omni 4000... all of them are excellent products!!!

I too am 18, and my first and only airbrush is the Aztek A470. I think it works pretty well, its just very difficult to clean well. And depending on the settings you use, you can get some fairly fine lines. However, I have big hands and it feels rather delicate at times. So I don't thik you should make judgements on an entire line of airbrushes based on one low-end budget priced Aztek.

I don't recommend Aztek based on reliability issues based on my experience with the double-action A430. I did follow all cleaning instructions and admonishments, unfortunately the body (not the any nozzle) seemd to clog up and needed replacement. A lot of people do have good luck with them, but unfortunately a lot, such as myself have had them die. Aside from the reliability issues, it worked well enough. Unlike a lot of others, I did find the unit to be comfortable to use, and the air hose location on the back of the body was not at all troublesome.

I have a Badger 200 siphon feed. It has a single action trigger, but a longitudnal double-action type needle, so it is easier to use but provides fine line capability. The only real problem I've had with it was one time I wigged while re-assembing it and bent the needles tip. Other than that, it is an excellent airbrush, easy to use, easy to clean, and aside from one moment of carelessness easy to disassemble.

I recently picked up a Paasche H for fun, and it too is an excellent airbrush. The first time i messed around with it, I easily painted lines fine enough for 1/72 armor and aircraft camoflage. Like the Badger, it is easy to use, easy to clean, and maybe even easier (at least less delicate) to disassemble.

Regardless of what airbruss you end up with, if you learn how to use it well, you'll get good results.

yeah, i probably screwed it up right when i got it because i didnt know much about airbrushing Banged Head [banghead] i think the model is called the detailing brush? its a thin little thing, internal mix, single action.

I use the Aztec contempo, which is basically their 470 model, and I find that it suits me perfectly. You'll find the general consensus will not agree with that on this forum, but lest you think that no one out there likes aztecs, they are fairly good airbrushes. Just keep 'em clean Big Smile [:D]

I don' know what model aztek you have, so it could be crap. (I use a 470) But before you get a new airbrush, realize that airbrush clogging is almost always caused by paint not be thinned properly, and in case of Acrylic paint, a retarder agend will help. For example, I'm sure even your crappy brush doesn't clogg when just spraying water. So no matter how fancy a brush you get, you have to get this part worked out first. Just didn't want you to be dissappointed in your next brush.

well my parents bought me an Aztek starter brush a couple years ago. it was a piece of crap, always clogging up no matter HOW much i cleaned the darn things. i talked to my dad and said for my 18th bday coming up i wanted a new airbrush, a quality one. well, surprisingly that went well. i was looking up and i do like the way the Aztek on paper looks, with interchangable nozzles and what have you. ive also heard about Badger and Paasche. So now i need advice on a better airbrush. i read a post about a Paasche H set. what about the really good Azteks? i would like relative simplicity, but good use and good results. thanks to all who will post on this repetitive question!
