Vallejo Acrylics?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 9:20 AM
I've been seeing ads and a couple of articles that mention Vallejo acrylics. They don't seem to be generally available but can be found. One thing that sounds attractive is you can buy some premixed for airbrushes. Does anyone have any experience and/or recommendations concerning these.

Thanks.

Greetings,

I read all the praises and decided to try Vallejo out for myself. I checked around and found that a company, Strange Cargo, had the best prices. I ordered them over the net. Great prices, services and if you fill out their survey, you get one free color.

I can only comment on the game color line. I believe this is the line that you brush, not spray. This is what I found. They go on very nice and flat with no brush marks. I did find that they are very, very, very fragile. If you don't prine first the paint comes right off with your finger. I stil like the paint for detail work how ever I started using Tamiya acrylics and found that they brush just as nice, maybe even better. Order one or two colors and check them out yourself.

Hope this helps,

Chuck B.

I use Valleho paint ALOT on my models. I even airbrush the game color line... little bit of water goes a long ways. No kiddin about be fragile. Once you learn them they are great. IMO they are better then Tamiya but I feel Vallejo has a limited selection so I use many different brands.

I use "Color of Eagles" line out of Miami which are made by Vallejo.. they are EXCELLENT paints that go on really smooth and are not that fragile if you use primer... key word: Primer!

They really are superior paints ONCE YOU LEARN to use them as Jeff said... doesnt take much to use them if you dont spray them on too heavy though.. I really recommend them...

Also I recommend Vallejo thinner.. it seems to aid in adhesion and drying.
