Help with Alclad II please
Posted by vfrvulcan on Monday, March 28, 2005 5:20 PM
I'm having trouble with Alclad II - specifically the Polished Aluminum and Pale Burnt Metal. Apologies if this has been asked before as this is my first post (no flames please :-))

I'm a novice when it comes to airbrushing in general but I recently covered an F-101 Voodoo with Alcald Duraluminum without any problems.

If you look at the pic below, the F-104 Starfighter wing on the right has been sprayed with Polished Aluminum, the one on the left with Chrome (for lexan). The 3 engine exhausts in the background have been sprayed with Alcald Pale Burnt Metal, these seem to have left a 'salty' finish (why?).

My main question is this...

What happened to the Polished Aluminum wing on the right????? Is that what is called 'crazing'? Can I remove it and start again? I'm hesitant to use this again at 4UKP/bottlle (and a local store tries to charge £6) until I know what went wrong.

In all cases each item has been primed with Spectrum Gloss Black (UK)

A full size with more detail (1.7MB) image can be found at http://www.spilling.org.uk/dscn6587.jpg
Hope you can help Guys!

Regards

Try Swanny's site, he has a tutorial on using Alclad II:

http://www.swannysmodels.com/Alclad.html

Swanny knows it all. If he doesn't know it, it doesn't exist.
