I've been using Model Master Flat Clear Acryl. I thin it with a couple drops of distilled water and a drop of "Jet-Dry." Lays nice and flat.

I once sprayed Testor Dullcote lacquer over acrylic paint, not such a good idea, removed the acrylic paint on the high points.

Terstors dullcote lacquer has an excellent flat finish !!!!!!!!!!!!! and you'll have to thin it(why dont you want to thin by the way ? )..........something is jogging my memory about not spraying lacquer over acrylics,(might want to check that out first ) maybe someone can answer this.I always sprayed mine over an ennamel gloss (for my wash and decals)...........................Anyway , it has a great finish !!!!!!!!!!! best of luck ! Peter !

I haven't used Polly Scale Flat, but just picked up a bottle... only because I have heard so many praises from distinguished modellers here... Sounds like there is a consensus growing here! Wink [;)]

Hi Bill,

Well, I don't know if it's the best (which is probably a matter of opinionWink [;)]), but I personally prefer Pollyscale Flat Clear. I thin it with a little distilled water, although I've heard others say they don't thin it at all. I get a very flat finish, which is what I'm usually looking for.

I haven't used Tamiya or Gunze flat, so can't comment on those.

Best Flat Clear to use
Posted by Bill Clarke on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 7:59 PM
Hi guys, I have a 1/72 Emhar A7V German tank. I have applied the base colour and camo, after decaling and weathering, what is the best flat coat to use ?.
I have used Tamiya acrylics. I would like to be able to apply it straight up no thinning if possible. Would Gunze flat clear H20 be suitable ?.

Thanks.
