lacquer bottled paint

I figured I'd add more to what I was saying... The only other real lacquer I have used is Dupont Lucite. That's very intense lacquer for real cars. It was extremely hard to polish into a gloss finish, but it sure is a permanently perfect paint job once you get it done. Maybe someone here has also used Lucite and MCW and can compare the two.

When it comes time to do the 1500 grit step, I'd say to get the 1500 micromesh and use it wet instead of using 3M or some other regular sandpaper.

No I haven't used it, but I have a guess on why it is needed. I know that real lacquer (not synthetic lacquer) dries looking quite semi gloss. It's also a very hard shell of paint to polish with something like micro-mesh. MCW says to sand the color coat with 1500 grit. That's quite coarse for model paint. Buff-ez is probably the best solution for that, so you get high gloss finishes with that paint, since it is real lacquer. Whenever I finally get to a point on a car model where I'm ready to buy some MCW paint, I'll get Buff-ez and Final Finish too.

JDavid,what is the EZ-Buff,& have you used it ?Since I'm going to be placing a pretty big order,I'll get some of that too,if you think it's worth it.And yes,2 of my choices are plain gloss black $ white !!! Thanks ahead,rudedog

Cool. I've only heard great stuff about MCW even though the only way to get the paint is with the order form. I haven't used it, but I've seen magazine article models painted with it. I've done all that searching for lacquer too, and MCW is the only place I ever found aside from Tamiya's spray cans of synthetic lacquer (a very limited color range compared to MCW).

The primer and the buff-ez is on the Misc page. Somewhere in there, MCW also has a range of standard colors like "Black" and "White" too. It's all in there. It just takes a bit of clickin' around.
