Omni, Badger or Paasche.......please HEEEEEELP!
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, April 4, 2005 8:21 AM
Hi,

I'm about to purchase a new airbrush. My first selection was the paasche VL although this was based more on availability at my local hobby store than anything else. However, I've been encouraged by the positive feedback regarding the Badger & Omni airbrushes.

Thus, I have the option of buying a Badger 150-4 which includes the fine 2" pencil line nozzle or the Omni 5000. My only concern regarding the 5000 is the small size of the gravity cup and the 'all in one nozzle'. I need a flexible airbrush that can manage large surface areas and fine detail spraying too (panel lines & camo).

The more brushes I look at, the more confused I get. Big Smile [:D]

One final question. Would you consider the badger 100LG to be a better airbrush than the 105-4?

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers

What scale do you mostly build? I primarily build 1/72 so the small reserviors on the omni 5000 or badger 100 series are fine. The paasche VL is very good. Your not going to like this but I really suggest both the paasche VL (for large coverage) and the badger 100 for finer coverage. Thats what I have except I use a badger 175 for larger coverage.

Would you consider the badger 100LG to be a better airbrush than the 150-4?
Dont really know I haven't used the 150 I hear they are equivalent though, depends on the tip/nozzle combo you choose.

I-beam,

I primarily build 1/32 - 1/48 aircraft & 1/35 armour (and a few ships too). Although it would be tempting to get both airbrushes (emptying my pockets), I seem a little more set on the badger 150 on account of the additional fine nozzle and the larger paint capacity. I don't really mind the siphon action either. Was just wondering if the 150-4 was a glorified version of the 100LG. Thanks for the tip.....and possible added expenditure too Big Smile [:D]
